In 2003, in search of her roots, Gay visited Calcutta. There, she was introduced to Kantha, an old traditional village stitchery. Soon after her trip, it became a passion of Gay’s to find and collect sari fabrics, quilts and scarves. She now incorporates her own interpretation of the traditional stitch into her printmaking.
